This black ground thangka depicts several heavy and intense scenes. It represents the dharmapala Hayagriva (Tamdrin), the wrathful incarnation of Avalokiteshvara and protector of Tantric Buddhism. He has three faces, each with three eyes, six arms with his attributes (skull cup, sword, ax etc.) and four legs. He stands (with his consort) on a sun disc, trampling human bodies. There is one horse head on top of Hayagrivas head. Distemper on cloth. Tibet. In good condition. Size: 100 x 67cm. Size of the image: 56 x 40cm.
