A rare antique fire gilt bronze statue of two elephant-headed deities in embrace. Kangiten (god of Bliss) is associated with esoteric, Tantric Buddhism, like the Shingon school in Japan. The female wears a crown, associated with Avalokiteshvara or Guanyin and rests her feet on the male's feet. Kangiten symbolizes the unity of opposites, conjugal harmony and long life. This marvelous and rare statue is in excellent condition. The statue is blessed, the bottom is still completely closed and decorated with the yin/yang symbol and a double vajra. The bronze is of high quality (almost 2 kg.). Height 20 cm. The diameter of the lotus throne is 11 cm. Tibet, ca. 1850 or earlier.
