A pen-box with rounded ends, painted with flowers and scrolling foliage in gold on a dark ground. The sliding tray decorated with flowers on a whitish ground. Finely potted porcelain saucer with two moulded borders of petals in relief, dating to the late Ming period. The well beautifully painted in underglaze blue with a bird of prey standing on a rock below a pine tree watching a duck. The border with a sparsely celadon tinted glaze. Condition: fine - no cracks and repairs. Only sparse rim frittings, foot rim with few adhering kiln sand. Dimension: 20.2 cm diameter, weight: 280 g.

The base with a Chenghua six-character mark in double ring. Condition: a c. 10 cm long hairline (see pic. 6 and 12), few rim frittings, the bluish glaze partially uneven.
