Made from zinc alloy inlaid in silver: a small vase and bowl decorated with Hyderabad poppies and a small blossom shaped dish. The bowl inside with a blossom in relief. A Kashmir wool shawl fragment woven in India in the twill tapestry technique. Joined together in the past from several separately woven parts. A rectangular cover made of glazed cotton lavishly block-printed and dyed, produced in Isfahan in the 19th century. Centrally a medallion with cypresses surrounded by meandering flowers, and a row with cartouches containing Arabic inscriptions. Qalamkar textiles were especially popular in Persia, often imported from India (here called Kalamkari). From a Swiss gentleman's study collection, mainly comprising Persian textiles.
