Made of different shaped cream colored silk panels with paper interfacing. Bordered with black satin and silver paper, connected by silk cords and glass beads. Embroidered with polychrome silks in different elaborate stitches. Condition: some beads and one tassel missing, some wear to silver paper and silk lining. Antique Chinese brocade with dragons in roundels between auspicious symbols and an open-worked white jade plaque, dating from the 19th century, assembled to a diary with mechanical pencil. Composite panel of antique Ottoman embroideries, made into a rectangular shaped woman’s prayer cloth indicating qibla, the direction of prayer. Made in the Ottoman city of Salonika or Kavala. The basic fabrics are different plain weaves, embroidered with silk and silver wrapped threads, crocheted together. Two patches with a kind of floral needle weaving. Bordered with a green ribbon and later lining. Condition: stained and flawed areas, missing threads, faded. Dimension: 159.5 cm x 98 cm.
