Consisting of two pairs of salt and pepper vessels, one in the shape of market baskets, the other one in the shape of lidded baskets on a rack, with gilt interior and a round cartouche with monogram. Former in the collection of Hayashi Tadamasa, a Japanese art dealer who introduced traditional Japanese art such as ukiyo-e to Europe. An original Japanese color woodblock print with blind-printing by Katsukawa Shunko I (1743 - 1812), a pupil of Shunsho. Yakusha-e in hosoban size depicting the actor Iwai Hanjiro IV (1753 - 1800). Three carved bamboo page turners. The first one with an eagle on a pine tree watching a small bird, and a small round inlay in aogai. The second one decorated with a Daimyo. The third one with a farmer harvesting a double gourd, with inscription. The two large page turner with beautiful patina. Condition: good, the first one with old ink stains and few rim chips. The shovel with maker's mark "TC" standing for Tuck Chang who was active between the late 19th century and early 20th century in Shanghai and Chinese character marks.
