Jewelry for the headdress of a Turkmen unmarried woman, made of silver and set with red glass cabochons. Two V-shaped "segusha", used for draping over the bedding during the day and a short embroidery, maybe a fragment of a "segusha". Embroidered in cross stitch in strong-colored silk with geometric pattern. Cotton lining. From an old Swiss collection. Condition: few traces of usage, partial with little discoloration. Composite panel of antique embroideries from the Ottoman Empire, made into a rectangular shaped woman’s prayer cloth indicating qibla, the direction of prayer. The basic fabrics are different plain weaves, embroidered with silk and metal wrapped threads, composed and sewn together in the Ottoman city of Salonika or Kavala. A striped plain weave cover, consisting of eight widths sewn together. Made of wool, dyed with natural colors. Most probably made by the Shahsavan nomads and dating from the 2nd half of 19th century. Condition: clean, one small area with old mends (near undone seam, see picture 12), another small mend, little tiny thin areas, the selvages needs a fixation. Dimension: 188 cm x 156 cm.
