A Japanese "arrow toss" game vase made of copper and decorated with polychrome enamels, the rims and wires are gilt. Showing antiques and auspicious symbols on a white ground, the base with "fuku" mark. The "arrow-toss" game originated from China and was at the beginning very popular with the aristocrats and survived as a pastime well into the Edo period. From an old Swiss private collection. A pair of large cloisonne vases with little flattened sides. Decorated on apricot colored cartouches with different birds and flowers motifs, surrounded by stylized flowerheads on a white ground. Neck with brocade pattern containing ho-o birds and dragons. Inside and base with turquoise contre-email. Condition: the wires have not overall the same copper Content, therefore partial problem with some verdigris. Otherwise fine, only two short stress lines. Dimension: 31.8 cm high.

A high quality cloisonne vase dating from the Meiji period. Design of ho-o birds among clouds on a green speckled ground. The shoulder with flowers on a black spiral ground. Bottom, rim and wires are gilt. With wood stand. Condition: rim with a small dent (see picture No. 6). Small area with only under the magnifying glass visible imperfections. Dimension: 12.1 cm high. A high quality cloisonne vase dating from the Meiji period. The shoulder decorated with flowers on a black spiral ground, below a design of butterflies and flowers on a brown speckled ground. Then followed by foliate panels containing a ho-o bird or a dragon. Bottom, rim and wires are gilt. With wood stand. Condition: fine. Dimension: 12.1 cm high.
