Interesting beige silk textile fragment, woven in blue and green and silvered stripes of paper "gin hirahaku". The pattern consists of eight bands of varying widths, three with a small repeating pattern, four rows containing the 12 Zodiac animals and one band with Chinese characters. A Buddhist temple canopy consisting of three panels of silk brocade. Orange brown ground with design in rows, ho-o birds alternating with leaves. Woven in polychrome silk and silvered stripes of paper "gin hirahaku". The cotton lining dated and inscribed in ink. Condition: one loss and few small holes, one corner mended, lining stained, little faded and worn. Dimension: 168 cm x 168 cm.
