Horn bullet container from the Batak people, Sumatra, Indonesia. With stylized face and delicate ornamental carving. Containing two lead bullets. Fringe on top of its head and attached leather strap. RUNDA. -- In the 1930's mainly the European artists Rudolf Bonnet and Walter Spies animated the Balinese carvers and painters to create modern non functional artwork. -- Condition: fine, some brighter parts due to age. A beautiful Mandarin square dating from the early Jiaqing period. A male back buzi with a silver pheasant bird, denoting the fifth civil rank. On dark silk entirely embroidered in Peking knot, blue silk lining. Reference: Ladder to the Clouds, Jackson & Hugus Berkeley 1999, Page 250 - No. 15.032 very similar badge. Condition: good - slightly impure, the back lining with some water stains. Dimensions: 29,2 cm high x 30,5 cm wide.

A chaozhu made of pierced and enameled silver or silver plated metal filigree beads. 90 small beads with crane design between three large "Buddha's head" beads. Three strings each with 10 dark beads ending in a teardrop bead. The tape which hung down the back with an oblong plaque between a double gourd and a teardrop bead. Dimension: 112 cm long.
