Twenty-three vintage black and white gelatin silver prints by the American photographer, writer and social activist Dorothy Norman (1905-1997), well known for her relationship to Alfred Stieglitz. With carbon copy of a typewritten manuscript (15 pages with some handwritten corrections in pencil) published 1957 in the College Art Journal Vol.16, No.2 (pages 100-108, with 7 pictures) under the title "Folk Art in Orissa, India - by Dorothy Norman"...

Not complete. A very rare document on Chinese porcelain in French, published by A. Morel in 1881, first edition. Reference book with 227 pages and 30 heliogravures and chromolithographs and more than 120 illustrations in the text. Large quarto pages loose in portfolio, pages uncut. Condition: not complete, the Nos. XXXI and XXXII of the heliogravures and chromolithographs are missing, so are the text pages 113 to 120. Some foxing on pages. Dimension: c. 38 cm x 29 cm.

Rare and early vintage albumen print of the Shimbashi Railway Station in Tokyo, with festive decoration and banners wearing the imperial seal "kiku-mon". The Tokyo to Yokohama rail line opened on 14th October 1872, with a great ceremony as the emperor took the first official ride, arriving at Shimbashi Station in a Western carriage. Mounted on coeval cardboard. Condition: fine, minimally faded, a tiny hole. Dimension: photo: 20.1 cm x 25.9 cm, cardboard: 34.8 cm x 43.8 cm.

A beautiful limited reference book containing the collection of the Baur Museum in Geneva, Switzerland of "Japanese Sword Fittings and Associated Metalwork", written by Basil William Robinson (former in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London). Hardback with 444 pages, 752 illustrations (several in color), section with signatures. Cloth with dustjacket, printed 1980 in a limited numbered edition of 1600, this is No. 52. Condition: fine.
