A large self-carved and printed color woodblock print by the Japanese Sosaku Hanga artist Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997). Titled "Maiko Kyoto(A)", dated "1959" and numbered "94/100" in pencil. Hand signed in white ink and with red seal. Reverse with paper slip "self-carved and self printed Kiyoshi Saito". Condition: good impression and color, little paper toning and stockflecks. Dimension: image: 52.5 cm x 38.3 cm, paper: 60.2 cm x 45.5 cm.

Three Kalaga panels, pictorial textile hangings once used as adornment outside a house, theater or temple on festive occasions in Burma. Brown ground fabric with appliqué, gold couching and sequins, depicting mythical lions in cartouches. Black fabric lining. Condition: loose threads, partial minor loss to sequins, traces of usage, smaller panel with few tiny holes. Maybe the white roundels were filled with small mirror glass. Dimension: large panels: 40 cm x 335 cm, small panel: 98 cm x 19 cm.
