Two Chinese blue and white Kraak porcelain dishes retrieved from the Hatcher shipwreck, dating to the Transitional period, c. 1643. Each well decorated in underglaze blue with a star-shaped medallion containing a bird respectively an insect among flowering plants. The sides with paneled decoration of flowers and auspicious symbols. On the underside sketchy wide and narrow panels. One dish with a red "Hatcher Collection" label. Both foot rims with little adhering kiln grit and the bases with chatter marks, few glaze impurities. Condition: fine, only little glaze degradation due to more than 300 years immersion in the sea. Dimension: diameter: 20.2 cm, 3.3 cm high.
