|A rectangular cover made of glazed cotton lavishly block-printed and dyed, produced in Isfahan in the 19th century. Centrally a medallion with cypresses surrounded by meandering flowers, and a row with cartouches containing Arabic inscriptions. Qalamkar textiles were especially popular in Persia, often imported from India (here called Kalamkari). From a Swiss gentleman's study collection, mainly comprising Persian textiles.
