Beautiful polychrome decorated pottery flared rim bowl. Decorated with a lower band with five pretty lady faces. Upper wide band of semi-abstract, interlocking zoomorphic pattern. Repaired from seven original pieces with break lines visible, otherwise intact. Dates to circa 400 to 600 AD and measures 8-5/8”D by 3-1/2”H.

Provenance: Private American collection, acquired late 1960s to early 1970s. To present owner by descent.

Lovely, tall slender polychrome decorated kero having a flared rim with wide upper register containing two running warriors holding long spears with feather decoration. Also, has two bands of stylized trophy faces with a center band containing eight birds. Four original pieces reattached in the base, rim chip and a minor stable hairline from the rim, otherwise in great condition! This ancient vase dates to circa 400-600 A.D. Measures 8 inches in height.

Ancient Nazca figure from circa 400-600 AD. It is of solid construction, wrapped in a white painted blanket having a reddish brown abstract decoration. The figure is depicted with a large angular nose and white painted eyes. Has a few light scattered surface deposits and very minor paint wear on left edge. Otherwise it is intact and in overall excellent condition. Measures 4 7/8” in height.

Here you find an ancient Mayan antiquity that dates to approx 250 to 800 AD. This vessel is an orangeware pottery cylinder having an incised depiction of two lords seated in front of simple stylized alters or offering tables. A triangular 4” area of the rim, extending down 2-1/2” is a restoration. A tiny hole is also present as seen in the photo (midway in the wall of the cylinder) otherwise intact and lovely. Here you find a very fine Vicus orangeware pottery figural vessel, depicting a bound and kneeling prisoner. This figure has the typical hook nose and large eyes found in much of the vicus pottery. Also has a small rear spout and bridge handle with mineral deposits on much of the surfaces. Dates to circa 100 BC and measures 7.75 inches in height. The Vicus is from a region of Northern Peru and is still shrouded in mystery! Ancient Art from the Vicus culture is very rare.

Here you find an Ancient Jama Coaque of an old Shawman. This figure dates to approx 350 BC. Ceramic figurines and vessels in this shape of human form are representative of the Jama Coaque culture. It developed around the San Isidoro sector in the North of the Manabi province in Ecuador. It is well preserved with growth deposits however there are some losses. Ie. the thumb on the right hand, ear and nose rings half remaining. However, the large necklace with a half moon pendent is still intact. ...
