Material/colour: creamy white steatite

Technique: stone carving; no trace of glaze; pierced lengthwise

Condition: either carving of the glyphs or drilling of the hole for suspension lead to holes opening up in bottom of glyphs.

Date: Second Intermediate Period

Rounded Lentoid bead with crossed flower and scroll pattern

Measurement: 1.1 x 1.1 x .5 cm

Material/colour: Glazed steatite. Beige bead with turquoise blue pigment remaining in pattern on reverse.

Technique: stone carving with glaze; pierced for suspension

Condition: Back is worn and chipped, but still shows signs of the original bright blue glaze...

Material/colour: stone (steatite?) now cream, but blackened back suggests an original glaze, perhaps dark green.

Condition: Back is worn and slightly gritty; carved surface is well preserved; line encircling pattern somewhat worn and eccentric...

Condition: glaze worn on back and almost completely absent from design, some chipping on boarders.

Technique: stone carving, drilled for suspension; no decoration on obverse.

Condition: a crack has developed but does not threaten the integrity of the piece...

Identification and Interpretation: Circular flower-shaped bead with spiral pattern on the back...

A lovely ancient Greek globular pyxis with dark bands surrounding the body and lid. A dot motif, in which could possibly represent a floral decoration surrounds the body. Misfiring has caused a portion of the vase to turn reddish orange. Intact with good mineral deposits and root markings inside. Circa 550-525 B.C. Measures 3.5 inches high.

Ancient Roman terracotta lamp with cuttlefish of Loeschcke type IV, 1st - 2nd century A.D. Mouldmade with brown slip. Deep concave disk within circular moulding with cuttlefish positioned transversely. A small fill hole below, rounded handle and nozzle with two volutes. Raised disk base with planta pedis. Measures 4.5 inches in length. Surface slightly worn but intact.

Ancient Greek pottery; Euboean cup with circular design and horizontal lines, typical of the Late Geometric design. This drinking cup dates to the 8th century B.C. Few chips as seen in photo otherwise intact. Measure 9.5 inches from handle to handle.
