| Here you find a lovely mouldmade ancient Roman oil lamp. Made of red clay and slip or 'red slip" these lamps were mostly produced in North Africa (most likely Tunisia) during the 4th century. This style was very popular and produced throughout the Mediterranean. An exceptionally well preserved oil lamp with some good growth deposits. It depicts in tondo an armed Gladiator with what appears to be a spear of sort. Has a filing hole and vent hole with a large conical wick-hole. Measures 5.9 inches in length. | ||
