Ancient Faience Statuette of Imhotep - Saqqara
Here you find a spectacular and rare faience statuette of Imhotep. Colour suggests 27th Dynasty. Measures 2.25 inches in height.

Imhotep was the builder of The Step-Pyramid at Sakkara and he was not a king but an artist and scientist. He was also a physician, architect, Pyramid Builder and chief adviser of King Zoser. Imhotep did so much for medicine in Egypt, future generations would have worshiped him as a god of knowledge. Perhaps the father of the arts and sciences. He appears to have founded the school of architecture which provided future dynasty's with the first true great Pyramid builders.

Provenance: Gustave Jequier (1868-1946)

Authentication: Gayle Gibson, Egyptologist.
