The Chief's Daughter. Mogmog Using an old painting from the thirties, Jacoulet experimented with two totally different color schemes for this striking portrait of a young girl from the tiny Yap island called Mogmog. The style of the face is very different from the highly realistic studies he was making for prints to be made into blocks directly from drawings. Originally conceived in pale pastel yellows and pinks, La Fille Du Chef finished as perhaps the most innovative color print of the artist's last years. Nevertheless, it was poorly received by the subscribers, and few copies have survived.
