An ornate thick sterling silver overlay and glass decanter decorated in the Art Nouveau style with an intricately designed pattern of grapes and leaves, having a beautiful lattice pattern extending up the neck. The matching hexagon shaped finial stopper is hand blown with a tear drop bubble. The handle is of a solid silver overlay design, monogrammed, stamped STERLING and Style No.745 on base, circa 1895. Makers mark worn but in the style of American firm The Alvin Corporation, one of the premier manufacturers of sterling silver overlay in the late 19th century. Measurements: 9 1/2" to mouth, 12" to top of stopper. Excellent condition.
