Sold; thank you!

Price of $165 includes insured shipping anywhere in the U.S.

For drop-dead glamor, you simply can't beat this exquisitely crafted demi-parure of diamond rhinestones set in sterling silver. The fabulously geometric 2-inch necklace drop *screams* Deco; of domed floral shape, it's made up of marquis and round stones, with 11 baguettes suspended from all that! Round stones comprise the 14-inch necklace chain, which closes with a highly ornamental clasp that's rather like a stylized butterfly. The gorgeous screwback earrings are about 1 1/8 inches long and have the same Deco baguette stone design as the necklace drop. All three pieces are signed "Deri Sterling" and their condition is superb. Probable dating would be circa 1930, making the jewels not merely vintage but antique by American 75-year-standards.

Sold; thank you!

Price of $350 includes insured shipping anywhere in the U.S.

The prior owner of this astounding black velvet evening coat inherited it from her aunt, a screenwriter in Hollywood who wore it on Oscars Night during the 1930's. Fittingly, it's deluxe from its tall shirred muff of a collar to the tips of the sleeves and is as beautifully detailed on the back as the front (click through for rear view). However, I think this is a 1920's piece, instead, based on its Egyptian beading motif (trendy at the time of the King Tut exhibition).

Sadly, there's damage to beads and netting here and there; worst is that some oaf let it hang for ages on a wire hanger, fraying the shoulders of the pleated Fortuny silk lining. (Couldn't you just kill? Shades of Mommie Dearest!)

If interested in undertaking restoration of a truly amazing, one-of-a-kind treasure, which I've priced barely over what I paid to acquire it in Santa Fe, please e-mail for further details and pix. It will be museum-quality once restored and, the way this coat is cut, it will fit anyone. Thanks for looking!

Sold; thank you!

Offered are two rare, gorgeous and huge Art Deco shawls, each measuring 7 feet long and 30 inches wide! Sold at auction in England as "Indian Wedding Shawls," these proved upon research to be assuit ... an Art Deco metal fabric that gained popularity at the time of the King Tut exhibition, along with all things Egyptian.

Extremely hard to find, these shawls have a base of off-white netting, around which were wrapped bits of SOLID METAL (gold, brass, copper or perhaps an alloy) hammered thin and cut into small rectangles.

One of these two is in virtually immaculate condition. The other sadly shows some holes and staining I hope can be repaired; if not, the large central panel is fine and could be framed or used for some smaller piece of apparel. Please click through for detail shot. To confirm availability, order or request additional photos, please e-mail erinharris@earthlink.net - bearing in mind that photographing these is very difficult, due to their massive size and the metal's glare.

Insured U.S. shipping is complimentary and gift wrap is also free on request. Thanks for looking!

I'm calling this gorgeous evening bag Edwardian based on clasp shape and the prevalence of marcasites, but it could as easily be Victorian. The lavish detail of its frame (including dainty scalloped edging and inlay that appears to be mother-of-pearl) suggests a *very* early dating. Even the frame's reverse and interior are prettily chased and the fineness of the chain is something that hasn't typically been seen for a *very* long time. Certainly this lovely item is antique, not just vintage (even by European standards), and yet its condition is magnificent: not perfect, but really awe-inspiring.

Besides beauty, this purse has size going for it; it's about 9" wide and almost 6" deep (not counting the large, marcasite-crusted clasp, which adds almost another inch. The pattern of beautiful ladies in a Classical garden appears on both front and back. This is a bag you'll be extremely proud to carry on the most special occasions or give to someone dear. It's also an investment-grade collectible item, of course.

Sold; thank you!

Our second string bag from the Roaring 20s - worked in a more subtle color scheme of soft purple, fern green and black on taupe - has a pouch big enough to hold a lot. It measures 9" x 6 1/2", and the strap is about 39" long. On close inspection, the strap could use a few stitches for reinforcement; there's one frayed spot at the top, easily repaired. The purse has no further problems I notice and, like our other string bag from the same Dallas area estate, shows its original colors because of being carefully stored away for decades. These two bags are truly exceptional finds - superstars of a type that's rare to begin with.

This vivid "string bag" used by a Flapper Girl in the 1920s is perfect for you now, whenever you need only a small purse or an extra tote for something like your camera.

In super condition, it's been carefully stored away for decades, so the bright gold, red, blue and green Egyptian Revival pattern is as bold as when its original owner danced the Charleston! Pouch measures about 6" square and the strap is about 40" long. Provenance is a Dallas area estate.

This delightful evening bag clearly hasn't seen much use. The colors are still vibrant, the interior unsoiled and, apart from a few teensy dings on the beautifully detailed frame, it's like new. Both sides are identical, featuring gorgeous flowers in a combination of colors that will look wonderful with almost anything you feel like wearing. This is a spacious purse, capable of carrying all your essentials; it measures 7" x 8" (plus clasp). For dating, I'd say 1960s or early 1970s; it has the neo-Romantic look favored before the disco era began.

There's no charge for insured U.S. shipping and gift-wrap is always free when desired. Thanks for looking!

An extremely graceful floral pattern of pearl beading appears in high relief on the front of this lovely English evening purse ... which may be antique, not just vintage, because its label reads "EMPIRE MADE." (You'll notice some of our other bags acquired in England are tagged "FOREIGN" and, while I'm not sure exactly when these designations were in use, it was a long, long time ago.) For a truly luxurious look, this bag is also detailed with faux-pearls on back, sides, strap and even the bottom. In marvelous condition for its age, it has only slight areas of staining that are hard to notice. Inside, there's a particularly gorgeous little zipper of bright copper color with a dangly pull. Snap closure is stamped "Star Brand." Dimensions are about 8" x 4 1/2" (plus strap).

Reduced from $160 this month ...

The clutch bag made its debut in the 1930s and enjoyed great popularity in the 1940s (encouraged by wartime metal shortages). This is one of those very early clutches, which makes it an excellent investment piece. It's also one of the showiest evening purses around and of a good useful size: almost 9 by 5 inches.

Acquired in England, the bag is definitely European and has a Spanish look, courtesy of all that gold brain and beading on lush white and black velvet. Even the carrying strap on reverse is ornamented. The roomy black satin interior is divided into three compartments for easy organization of your wallet, cell phone and other essentials. In superb condition, with no damage apparent even on close inspection, it's really a gem!

RARE MUSEUM-QUALITY RING - 13TH CENTURY OR EARLIER. NEAR-MINT.

This superb ring must have been brand-new when the lady lost it, for it was recovered from English earth in perfect condition centuries later - at least seven centuries later, since it was made before goldmarking began! A dainty US size 5 or so, this is truly an astonishing piece of history. Remember, gold marks were regularly used in England at least from 1300, so this ring has to be at least 700 years old and yet is as wearable as if made yesterday.

Please e-mail erinharris@comcast.net for more photos, if you're interested in this as a treat for yourself or a gift for someone very, very special.
