This gorgeous antique belt buckle has a two-piece granulated setting lavished with old brilliants, including baguettes and rounds of various sizes. As you can see, it's in original condition, even attached to a belt of faded moire silk worn by the prior owner, a Boston socialite. Still with sturdy clip and brackets, as well as all stones present, this is an estate piece lovingly conserved by a great-nephew, who eventually sold the jewels in support of charitable work. According to family lore, his aunt purchased it in Europe about 75 years ago, as a young woman, and no doubt it had significant age then. As for origin, it looks French to moi.
It's a perfect acquisition for this fall and winter, capturing *three* leading design trends: not only exciting belts, but also historic styling and rhinestones.
