Cachet fashions still sell in upscale stores like Nordstrom, but this fabulous dress dates from the 1980s, when Bari Protas was designer. It's sheer romance, from the ruffled organdy collar and puffed sleeves lined with tulle to the ballerina-length circle skirt with its shimmery black petticoat that matches the wide sash. Nothing could be more perfect for a wedding or garden party.
Tagged size 3/4, it would also fit someone a bit bigger. The deep V neck allows more room than the 35-inch bust would indicate; the skirt's so full that hip size doesn't matter; and the elasticized waist stretches to 28 inches. Total length from back of neck to hem is about 48 inches.
This is another treat we acquired from a vintage clothing hound who's downsizing. Condition is so lovely it can't have been worn much. You'd honestly mistake it for new, although it's at least 20 years old.
