This is a truly remarkable antique bronze letter opener and paper knife from the 19th century - dating from the Gothic Revival era in mid-Victorian England, and certainly no later than the Renaissance Revival era a little later. It was acquired by its former owner at a London antiques fair in the 1980s. About 10 1/4" long and 3" wide at the hilt, this piece is as beautifully detailed on the back as on the front and in magnificent condition.
