Our yummy fruit tart clip-ons date from Carmen Miranda days (1940s or early 1950s) and feature a melange of pears, cherries, blueberries and other fruits on a fluted pastry crust. Each measures 1 1/8" round and is highly dimensional. The material looks like Bakelite, but doesn't test to be, so it's either Galalith (often called French Bakelite) or some other sturdy early plastic. Condition is incredibly good. The clip fasteners are right for the period and work fine, but can easily be replaced by posts, if you prefer.
The tart design is so tasty that Juicy Couture concocted a copycat version not long ago. So did Japanese maker Harajuku. Much sweeter to have the vintage original, don't you think? Our earrings hail from a Nevada estate, so perhaps they belonged to a showgirl, back in the day.
