A pipe with Meissen porcelain bowl or Stummel, the base and mouth piece made of horn, c 1840. Hand painted with a matchmaking scene: a marriage broker and a young couple. Meissen crossed swords mark and impressed 07 to the little knop of the bowl. The joining metal parts not marked, probably silver plate. Length of bowl "4 ½ / 11,5 cm, length in total "13 ½ / 34 cm. Condition: two small patches of wear to the decoration (cf pictures).

Porcelain pipe head, a gift for Eugene, the name in elegant lettering within a hand painted shield and flowers in red, blue and gilt. A beautiful pipe head, often made in Germany, was a much liked present for the 19th century gentleman. Length "5 ¼ / 13 cm. Condition: fine, appears never to have been used.

A cream box or patch box and a lid, not belonging but part of the same toilet set, made by Sèvres in the late 18th century. Overglaze decoration of a trellis pattern, flowers and ribbons. Unusual. Painted mark in blue: interlaced L, cc for 1780 and Sevres in capital lettering. Diameter "2 ½ / 6,5 cm and "1½ / 4 cm .

A French glass cooler, seau à verre. Manufacture de la Reine, rue Thiroux, late 18th century. The production of the porcelain factory at Rue Thiroux enjoyed the special protection of Marie Antoinette. Mark: crowned A in red. Height "4 ½ / 11 cm. Condition: c 2000 found in two halves and professionally put together again (cf photo 5). Two small firing cracks near the handles (cf photo 4).

Three coffee cans, gobelets litrons, in the cornflower (barbeaux) pattern, a decoration much preferred by Marie Antoinette. Paris, late 18th century, all marked 1r ll (premier = first and ??). Height "2 ¼ / 6 cm. Condition: small firing crack to one cup (cf photo 3). To go with the cups without extra cost: two contemporary (1790’s) saucers by Guérhard et Dihl, Paris, in the same pattern, with damage and repair (cf photo 6). Diameter of the saucers: 5 ¼”/ 13 cm.

Two little jars and a salt shaker in red stoneware, Rosso Antico, by Wedgwood and/or some other English manufacturer, all three early Victorian, made in the 1830s to -50s. The salt shaker with printed and enamelled decoration in “Pompeian” style, the two other pieces are jars for fragrance products, both with printed company information to the base. The one with an “Etruscan” troica on a black background once contained cream sold by perfumers Piesse & Lubin on New Bond Street...

Syllabub cup, a cream dessert lidded cup with monogrammed JC under crown. Ordered from Darte Frères, Paris, around 1820 for the Swedish Royal Court. JC stands for Carl Johan, the name given to Jean Baptiste Bernadotte, former field marshal of Napoleon, when he was elected King of Sweden. Carl XIV Johan was the first Swedish king of the still reigning Bernadotte family. Condition: restored chip and crack near the rim (cf. picture). Height "3 ½ / 9 cm including lid.

Cup and saucer presented by Mr von Quast to his friend Mr von Laffert in 1837. The archives of the German nobility tell us that the wife of Hermann von Quast was born Laffert, and so Mr von Laffert was probably the giver’s brother-in-law. The saucer with inscription: H. v. Quast seinem H. v. Laffert d. 13t Januar 1837. The archives also state that January 13 was Hermann von Laffert’s birthday. On the cup, surrounded by grape vines and flowers: Heiter sei Dein Leben (May your Life be Joyous)...
