Interesting enamel box from the time of the Seven Years’ War 1756 – 1763. The exterior with two soldiers in the uniform of the Austrian Althann Dragoon regiment, the interior depicting their commander, Count von Daun, who led the Althann Dragoons at the battle of Kolin, where the Prussian army was defeated and forced to retire eastwards. The long war also generated propaganda and political satire in writing as well as in the decorative arts...

An English snuff or patch box, enamel on copper, Georgian, c 1770. Rococo style roses and scrollwork on a puce background, gilt metal hinge and rim. Patches, often in black silk, were used to conceal scars or blemishes from smallpox or other diseases. Diameter "2¾/ 6,8 cm, height "1½/ 3 cm. Condition: Extensive wear and around the edges repair, most of which has been removed.

Very pretty Austrian enameled scent or perfume bottle, Vienna, c 1880. Depicting a lady, dressed as an 18th c shepherdess in a romantic landscape, the top showing her straw hat and some musical instruments, all in Neo-Rococo style. Silver gilt mount and cut glass stopper. Austrian hallmark, a minuscule dogs head, near the hinge. Height "2Âľ/ 7 cm. Condition: a two mm enamel flake restored between base and wall, below and to the right of the lady's left foot.
