Tea bowl with charming decoration in Famille rose enamels and iron-red depicting a family scene, perhaps a birthday celebration: a boy and a young man are leading a cow up to the Pater Familias where he is resting comfortably under a blossoming tree, while two smiling ladies are bringing him presents, one of them carrying what looks like a teapot and the other a fish. Diameter "3/ 7.8 cm, height "1 2/3 / 4.2 cm. Condition: fine.

Cup and saucer, both with a flower border in underglaze blue and a peony in the center. The exterior with a light Café-au-lait variation of the brown “Batavia” glaze (Batavia being the Dutch name for the VOC shipping harbour, today's Jakarta). Yongzheng, early 18th century, the base with a shop mark. Diameter of saucer "4 ½ / 11.5 cm, height of cup "1 2/3/ 4.3 cm. Condition: the cup with three chips to the rim and foot rim, two of them with old repairs (cf. pics).

A blue and white gravy jug or creamer, Chinese export porcelain, c 1830. The hand painted decoration of pagodas in a seascape is cut off on both sides of the handle, mimicking the competitive English porcelain factories, where this was an obvious downside of the new and rational method of printing. The lid with an elderly official or teacher, his traditional hat in hand, surrounded by his pupils, the sides of lid and box showing two rows of small boys carrying signboards, red lanterns and the dragon on long sticks. A matched pair of baluster shaped vases, decorated in under glaze blue with seascapes, bridges and pagodas. Both with four-character Kangxi mark to the base, typical of the Kangxi revival period, the latter part of the 19th century. Height "5 1/3/ 13.5 and "5 ½/ 13.8 cm. A miniature vase, decorated in underglaze blue with garlands of grapevines. China, Yongzheng to early Qianlong, 18th century. Interestingly, the same decoration has been found on many of the blue and white plates in the cargo of Swedish East Indiaman Götheborg which went down just outside the town with that name in 1745. Height "3 ¼ / 8.3 cm. Condition: an old restoration overpaint to the mouth rim has been removed to leave just the filling (cf. pics).
