A waste bowl or slop bowl and a saucer bowl in the Yellow Shell pattern, c 1820. This very popular folk art or naïve style pattern was produced in many Staffordshire kilns in the early 19th century. It used to be attributed to New Hall, but as for the waste bowl recent English research leads us to the Machin kiln, because of the difference in detail. TF was an English maker, well-known for his export of meticulously decorated transfer ware to the US and Canada. To one side transfer printed in black with an English mansion in classic style, in the foreground a lake and to gentlemen fishers, to the other side a lady and a small girl in a garden (traces of the same motif to the inside of the bowls). These little elegant pair of Jue is from the early 19th century, made of silvered and engraved bronze or brass. Height "3½/ 9 cm. A pair of coffee cans and saucers, gobelets litrons, in the cornflower (barbeaux) pattern, a decoration much preferred by Marie Antoinette. Paris, late 18th century, the cups marked 1r ll (premier = first and ??). Height "2¼/ 6 cm. Condition: small firing crack to one cup (cf photo 3). To go with the cups: two contemporary (1790’s) saucers by Guérhard et Dihl, Paris, in the same pattern, with damage and repair. Diameter of the saucers: 5¼”/ 13 cm.

French tazza, a footed dessert or cake plate, in the cornflower (barbeaux) pattern, a decoration much preferred by Marie Antoinette. Consisting of three parts, put together by a screw and wing nut, the top plateau probably intended for a bowl in the same pattern. France (Paris), unmarked, c 1800. Diameter "9¾/ 25 cm and height "4/ 10,5 cm. Condition: corrosion to the metal parts, otherwise fine.
