A pattipan or lobed teapot stand of a model that was very much “en vogue” in the 1740’s. Famille rose decoration of two Grand Danois dogs within a Rococo framework in gilt. Chinese, for the European market. Condition: has been in two halves, now joined together. Width "5 ¼ / 13,2 cm.

Outer border of scroll-work, the well with a bird and blossoming tree motif surrounded by a diaper border, all in under-glaze blue and over the glaze iron red and gilt. Diam. "8 ¾ / 22,5 cm. Condition: some wear to the well and a 2 mm nick or glaze burst to the rim (cf. photos).

A blue and white Chinese saucer bowl with the well known Trench Mortar pattern surrounded by a diaper border with butterflies. Also called the Batavian Hut, Malayan House or Log Cabin pattern this pattern started up as Chinese and hand painted. Many Chinese patterns of the late Qianlong period – like the Trench Mortar pattern - were to be “adopted” by competitive English ceramic factories like Spode that started to produce them in printed versions...

Three Shishi lions or “Foo dogs”, the guardian animals that used to be placed outside temples and imperial buildings. Two of the three originally formed the knobs of urn lids, the third and smallest is a lid from a miniature incense vessel or urn. Two with aubergine and green/turquoise glaze, the third in crackle-glaze gilt. Height of biggest Foo dog "2 ¾ / 7 cm, of smallest "1/ 2,5 cm. Condition: the angry, middle-sized dog has got his right back leg restored.
