Chinese export dish, Batavia brown, with gilt and Famille rose decoration. Yongzheng period, c 1730. Part of a larger, circular ensemble. Diaper border in iron red and a reserve of a paper scroll motif with early Famille rose enamels, all against a background of brown and gilt. Jian Ding = customs seal mark of cultural heritage bureau number 3 in Shanghai. Condition: corner chips and rim frits. Width "5 ¼ / 13 cm.

A group of English Spode Copelands cabbage leaf bowls, c 1900, a pair and two very small bowls. The Patent Office number 248670 for the Savoy cabbage leaves shape was registered in 1895. Diam. "3 3/4/7,5 - "2 ¼ /5,5 cm. Condition: a few rim frits can be felt but not seen, and there is a hairline and some discoloration (cf. pictures)

The decoration is of two North African gentlemen, one asking the other (in French): ”Is it the abuse of coffee that has caused that perturbation to your head?” Transfer printed and hand painted. A Majolica dish or ashtray, horseshoe shaped and decorated under the glaze with flowers in “Persian” style. From Ignac Fischer in Pest, a factory that around 1900 was to become part of Zsolnay. Width: "5 ½ / 13,5 cm. Impressed and stamped Fischer J, Budapest and 778 (probably a model number). Condition: some rubbing to the gilt borders.

Lovely cup and saucer, signed Fischer Vilmos, Koloswar. Exquisite decoration where Japanese influence, typical of the period (1880’s), can be traced in the paper-like reserves with raised enameled flowers against a brown background of smaller flowers and swirls. The Fischer porcelain manufacture at Herend was purveyor to the Habsburg court and Vilmos or Wilhelm was responsible for the painting department. Koloswar or Klausenburg is situated in present Romania...

Two pretty vases by Samson, in the Famille rose palette, imitating the style of Chinese export porcelain of the mid-18th century, the Qianlong period. The two have been used as a pair, even though the gilt borders are not quite identical. Both marked with an over-glaze pseudo-Chinese mark in iron red, typical of Samson. Height: "4 ¾ / 12 cm. Condition: minimal nick to underside of foot rim to one vase, otherwise fine.
