An Ethiopian upper arm bangle, c 1900. Made of cast silver, with decoration imitating engraved borders. Christian crosses at the ends. In Northern Africa of those days silver jewelry was created from old Austrian coins, Maria Theresia Thalers, which were melted down. These coins had a millesimal fineness of 833.
