An English Bursley Ware bowl by Charlotte Rhead, 1920's, of square shape. Slip-glaze decoration of the Carnations pattern in blue and gilt on off-white, marbled ground. Factory mark and TL 40 = pattern number and the mark of the painter who applied the raised decoration, Mary Powell. Height "2¼/ 6 cm, width (diagonally) "4¾/ 12 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that all the little dots and accents that unfortunately look brown on the photos are really in gilt.

An early 19th century papier maché and lacquered snuff box. Germany (Brunswick), Stockmann type, the inside of the lid with impressed maker’s mark M.A.A. On the lid a “portrait” of a lady generously décolleté, with a tiara and pearl necklace, an opulent and luxurious mock fiancé that many a gentleman of the period liked to show his friends when taking out his snuff box. An Ethiopian upper arm bangle, c 1900. Made of cast silver, th decoration imitating engraved borders. The ends with Christian crosses. In Northern Africa of those days silver jewelry was created from old Austrian coins, Maria Theresia Thalers, which were melted down. These coins had a millesimal fineness of 833.
