Chinese export dish, Batavia brown, with gilt and Famille rose decoration. Yongzheng period, c 1730. Part of a larger, circular ensemble. Diaper border in iron red and a reserve of a paper scroll motif with early Famille rose enamels, all against a background of brown and gilt. Jian Ding = customs seal mark of cultural heritage bureau number 3 in Shanghai. Condition: corner chips and rim frits. Width "5 ¼ / 13 cm.

A group of English Spode Copelands cabbage leaf bowls, c 1900, a pair and two very small bowls. The Patent Office number 248670 for the Savoy cabbage leaves shape was registered in 1895. Diam. Three Shishi lions or “Foo dogs”, the guardian animals that used to be placed outside temples and imperial buildings. Two of the three originally formed the knobs of urn lids, the third and smallest is a lid from a miniature incense vessel or urn. Two with aubergine and green/turquoise glaze, the third in crackle-glaze gilt. Height of biggest Foo dog "2 ¾ / 7 cm, of smallest "1/ 2,5 cm. Condition: the angry, middle-sized dog has got his right back leg restored.
