An English transfer printed and painted saucer bowl by William Smith & Co, c 1825-48. Marks: impressed: W S & Co and Wedgwood, printed in pink: WS & Co No 18 and Stafford Pottery. William Smith used "Wedgwood" in his marking to imitate Josiah Wedgwood. Smith even called his products "Staffordshire Pottery" - but his factory was actually situated in Stockton-on-Tees, in Yorkshire! From 1848, after a legal process, he was forced to add an extra "e" to the mark = "Wedgewood"...

Four cups and saucers, sugar bowl and creamer - part of an English Art Déco Carlton Ware coffee service by Wiltshaw & Robinson, 1920's (mark for 1897 - 1927). Probably designed by Enoch Boulton, this pattern with number 2922 is called Sunrise - perhaps an allusion to the land of the rising sun, Japan, and the Satsuma-like style of the lavish decoration in gilt, yellow and black.
