Charming 18th century cup and saucer from Limbach, Germany. Creamy white glaze and iron-red over-glaze decoration of small children, putti, engaged in chatting and fishing. Mark on cup and saucer of crossed under-glaze blue L’s and a star. The Limbach porcelain manufacture in Thuringia, c 1772 – 1787 chose this mark as a competitive marketing tool, resembling the crossed swords of Meissen. Diameter of saucer "4¾/ 12,2 cm, height of cup "1¾/ 4,5 cm. The handle re-glued and there are a few matted stains to the surface of the saucer (cf. photo).
