A blue and white tea bowl & two saucer bowls, Qianlong
A blue and white tea bowl and two saucer bowls with scalloped edges and decoration of seascapes and borders. In the last decades of the Qianlong period (1735-95) England had started to print their porcelain with the Chinese patterns so much in vogue at the time, a much cheaper method than painting. The Chinese answered by meticulously hand painting the same detailed borders and sceneries, like on these export pieces. Height of the tea bowls "1 ¾ / 4,8 cm and diameter of saucer bowls "5 ¼ / 13 cm. Condition: a hairline to the tea bowl, hairlines to the saucers too, and a small star crack visible to the back of one of them (cf. pictures).
