| A blue and white Chinese saucer bowl with the well known Trench Mortar pattern surrounded by a diaper border with butterflies. Also called the Batavian Hut, Malayan House or Log Cabin pattern this pattern started up as Chinese and hand painted. Many Chinese patterns of the late Qianlong period – like the Trench Mortar pattern - were to be “adopted” by competitive English ceramic factories like Spode that started to produce them in printed versions. Late Qianlong or early Jiaqing, c 1790-1810. Condition: two hairlines and a small nick to the rim (cf. picture). Diam "6/ 15,8 cm, height "1 ˝ / 3,8 cm. | ||
