A pair of silvered bronze tripods, Jue, an archaic type of vessel used for heating and serving wine, the shape originating from the early dynastic periods B C. These little elegant pair of Jue is from the early 19th century, made of silvered and engraved bronze or brass. They have obviously been used for other purposes, probably as salt cellars – hence the absence of the upright handles that were used to lift the vessel from the heat (cf pics). Apart from that and the wear to the silver coating, the condition of both Jue is good. Height "3½/ 9 cm.
