An English transfer printed and painted saucer bowl by William Smith & Co, c 1825-48. Marks: impressed: W S & Co and Wedgwood, printed in pink, WS & Co No 18 and Stafford Pottery. William Smith used "Wedgwood" in his marking to imitate Josiah Wedgwood. Smith even called his products "Staffordshire Pottery" - but his factory was actually situated in Stockton-on-Tees, in Yorkshire! From 1848, after an early IP process, he was forced to add an extra "e" to the mark = "Wedgewood". Diameter "5/ 12,8 cm. Condition: crackled glaze and short hairlines.
