Belgian tea or coffee pot, transfer printed in light but brilliant blue and black, c 1870-80. To one side Joan of Arc at the stake, to the other a young gentleman and his dogs. La Louvière? Nimy? cf. photo 293 in Mariën-Dugardin, Faïences fines, 1975. French Longwy and Creil too are known to have produced bicolour transfer ware with Joan of Arc motif, but the small lions rampants on this piece indicates Belgian origin. Height "7¾/ 19,5 cm. Condition: handle mended, firing crack and star crack to the bottom, visible from the outside.
