A rare Yuan Dynasty Serpent Horoscope Figure made of low fired clay. Very Good Condition. Four and one half inches in height by three inches in width. There are very expressive features on the face of this coiled Serpent, including endearing eyes, flared nostrils, two 'symbolic' lines on his head and two lines for his jaw/chin. There are eight lines on the front and eight lines on the back of the Serpent's body.

Smooth well crafted finish. Elegant single line decoration. In its' dimensions and Classic Form a pottery shape that would influence all later Chinese potters.
