Prisms of pique work were carefully incised with flower forms that then were filled with silver and gold. This is delicate work that was performed by artists in the latter quarter of the 19th century, c. 1870 most often in France or Russia. This art form was done for a short period of the Victorian era and as there is no fine reproduction today, These are medium length earrings, wearable and very light in weight. The condition is perfect.

Visually striking on the finger, this fine cameo is set in 18kt gold bezel with a 9kt shank. Psyche is finely carved from the white of the onyx and rises from the black background. This detailed miniature work was a talent of Italian jewelers. It amazes me how the carving is so delicate as to create hair on the head of a figure or drapes in clothing while bringing out one color only from the stone. Dating to 1870-80. Origin Italy. Excellent Condition

Fun and easily wearable, this pair of Victorian earrings is made with dangling orbs of white enamel wrapped in golden vines. The vines terminate in turquoise floral buds. At the earlobe is a small flower also centered by a turquoise. Light in color that is lively, the earrings are light on the ear as well. The gold is the English standard 15kt. They bring the cheer of an ice cream treat with sprinkles and are in original and in perfect condition.

A chunky rock crystal, clear and pure, is home to s a witch's heart of natural pearls. At its center sits a dot of turquoise that hypnotically holds the eye. The bale forms a flowing gold bow with its ribbons sitting atop the pendant like a crown. This heart is grand and puffy, one of the most exciting rock crystal hearts I have found. We photograph it on a ribbon. A lovely Victorian gold chain will be a beautiful addition. Ask to see our chain selection. The heart is English in origin c. 1880.

Old mine cut diamonds add a pinch of spice to a lovely pair of Victorian earrings that are timeless.Take note please that the darkened areas shown in the photograph are not at all visible in the earrings but an exaggeration of the camera magnification. The earrings are European in origin, a strikingly interesting texture and in excellent condition. Light on the ear they measure a petite 15/16 ths of an inch in length although they appear grander because of the nice size of the bottom orbs. Definitely a pair to wear constantly.

Cross hatch engraving represents the scales on the gentle snakes lovingly knotted on this ring. The ring is coiled thrice in back while on top of the finger one snake is crowned with a ruby, the second with a rose diamond. Like a love knot, there is no beginning or end which is why the serpent coiled in this way represents infinite love. This is a symbolic ring for man or woman that sends the message of a strong bond between two people. It is in excellent condition and is currently a size 9. The ring can be sized by a fine bench jeweler.

How can delicate, sparkling drops have such drama and presence. The shape and individuality of these earrings is responsible for the effect. The flat photograph can show the form but not the presence of these earrings. I wore them at a dealer's show when I bought them and was tapped by exhibitors telling me they like my earrings. Beautiful light and in excellent condition, the stone setting of various shapes and size pastes is the signal of their Victorian history. The paste gems are in closed back settings and have been foiled to capture all light available at the time. At night the candles made them shimmer as if they were diamonds. To us, they are just as precious.

This rare agate bracelet, set in gold is one of the best examples of stone sculpting I have found in Scottish jewelry. The stones as elongated pyramids or abstract bows. Image 6 shows the agate shapes perfectly. Click, if you will, on a close up of the bracelet to clearly see the rich colors of the agates. Terra Cotta stippled with greenish black, mossy agate with peach, olive with charcoal ripples, peach with bisque, and a crest shaped padlock of orange, green, tan and white are the natural shades of the stones. The central stripe of tan on the padlock is lighter in person than is represented on my computer screen. Scottish jewelry played a large role during the reign of Queen Victorian and Prince Albert. This was a monarchy that steeped itself in Scottish culture and tradition. The pair built a castle in Scotland known as Balmorral Castle. There they would live and don traditional Scottish clothing of tartan with the appropriate shoes, belt and accessories. The beauty of the natural stones and the expertise of the stone carving was admired by the European non royals as well and gorgeous agate brooches, bracelets and earrings were designed, mostly set in silver. This example of Scottish jewelry is the highest quality. All parts are made by hand including the stone carving, settings and agate polishing. The bracelet comes in its original fitted box. The imprint on the box is Millidge Jewellers, Edinburgh. Though 150 years have passed seince the bracelet was made, the condition is superb. See Ginny Dawes and Corinne Davidov's wonderful book of Victorian Jewelry for examples of Scottish jewels of the era.The length of the bracelet is 7 5/8 inches. The height of the center part of the agate is 3/8 of an inch. Excellent condition

The loving serpent with diamond eyes weaves an infinite circle around a garnet. Both serpent and garnet symbolize true love. The protecting serpent sits on the finger with its head seductively facing outward and doesn't miss a trick. Engraving that emulates snakeskin covers the serpents loop and flows to the ring shoulders. Executed in 15kt gold, the British standard weight, the ring is in wonderful condition. Light wear to the scales is a plus for it testifies to age and use. The ring is graceful and has a unique identity. Truly lovely. Excellent Condition as Appropriate with Age. Size 7.5. Can be sized Condition: EXCELLENT

A super large brooch in the form of a double love-knot and a thoroughly contemporary design in a piece of Victorian jewelry that is dramatic and knock out attractive today, this whitby jet brooch comes in perfect condition. We would all wish to be in this shape at 140 years of age minus the twists and bends. It is a brooch for all seasons. Whirls of jet undulate from back to front forming a grand, unexpectedly modern presence. Jet spheres set into cut out circles make the form look like a photo of the moon surface. It is a wearable piece of art modern as today yet antique as yesteryear. The town of Whitby in England was a large producer of excellent, sculptural, jet jewelry. When Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, died unexpectedly, she permitted only black to be worn in her court. The nation followed their queen's command out of respect for her loss and for the thrill of being fashionable. A brooch such as this one is fashion forward when made and remains so to this day. It is in its original fine condition and measures an ample 3 inches in width, 2 inches high and 1 1/2 inches in depth.
