An outstanding locket in size and design created in 14kt gold with florid engraving,. The grand pendant needs no embellishment but has one with the addition of a diamond set in the central large flower. On the back is a fancy scrolling, more an artistic decoration than decipherable initials. It makes the back of the locket beautiful in its own right. Lockets large and small were popular in the early 1900's. We were pleased upon seeing this beautiful example and finding it to be gold as many Edwardian lockets were made of gold on the outer face and gilt inside. Large enough for meaningful keep safes. Beautiful enough to love forever.

Visually striking on the finger, this fine cameo is set in 18kt gold bezel with a 9kt shank. Psyche is finely carved from the white of the onyx and rises from the black background. This detailed miniature work was a talent of Italian jewelers. It amazes me how the carving is so delicate as to create hair on the head of a figure or drapes in clothing while bringing out one color only from the stone. Dating to 1870-80. Origin Italy. Excellent Condition

Large and proud of it, this turn of the century locket is engraved on both sides and bears a symbolic family crest in the center. Symbols like this are lost in history and become puzzles today. At times we can come close to deciphering the family code. Other times we stumble only to keep at the game. Swirling forms of leaves run into one another and become interwoven above a textured background of gold. These are Acanthus leaves, stately and strong that symbolize long life and endurance. The locket is the size of a large pocket watch and makes a commanding presence when worn low just above or below the breast. Inside is a photograph of a serious young girl. At the turn of the Victorian era, smiles were not easily flashed for the camera as they are today, even on babies. The condition of this locket is excellent. English

A truly brilliant cluster of white old mine diamonds sets this ring apart from the others of this style, Set in a marquise shape, the diamonds are a tribute to the glitter of the Edwardian era. Closely placed in pave form, the stones become a layer of glimmer and light, without the visual interruption of the metal of their white gold or platinum prongs. The appearance is pure dazzle though the total weight of the gems is approximately half a carat. The eye does not measure but takes in only the extreme brightness of the diamonds set 1 inch high and 5/16ths wide. Geometrically placed on a 14kt gold shank with triangular shoulders, pride comes in knowing that these old mine diamonds are remarkably clean and bright high quality gems. We estimate the stones color at G and the clarity at VVS1. A winsome and winning diamond ring to have and adore. Condition is Excellent

A perfect image of a "Westie", bright eyed and impish. The white terrier with perky ears, has a look as if he were saying "what did I do now?" The ring, an Essex Crystal or Reverse Crystal Intaglio was carved in reverse on the back of the crystal and done with excellent skill. Notice the tufts of the dog's hair and its endearing features. The art of reverse crystal carving into the depth of the stone creates a three dimensional image. See image 4 and 5. Color and detail were painted after the crystal was engraved. Around this dog is the prize he deserves, a ring of small diamonds. Set in 18kt gold, this ring is as winsome and the pet it portrays. This ring can be sized. Condition is Fine

The moonstone, the star of this ring, sends flashes of color to the eye reminiscent of moonglow. A three dimensional array of peach and blue moves over the stone's surface.. Light rays are refracted from the gem's interior making the stone seem magical. Gemologists call this quality aduralescensce. Four old mine diamonds, bright and shining are the north, south, east and west stars. The moonstone is about 2 cts in weight. The total weight of the diamonds is approximately .60-65 cts. The curved, smooth shank is 18kt gold. This ring is size 5 1/4 and can be sized. Folklore about moonstones is abundant. They have historically been thought to have magical powers. Moonstones are the stones of lovers who, it is believed, remain faithful, attain the power of passion and gain good fortune from the gem. All this is good and in this case beautiful.

If diamonds are a girl's' best friend, getting flowers is somewhere high on her list. Voila, this bracelet, elegant and wearable, fills both pleasures, along with receiving a piece of jewelry just right for her taste. Four 18kt gold strands are made of small links for flexibility. The links are abutting each other so closely they seem to be textured with brush lines rather than separate links. On the hand the strands separate gracefully. A three layered flower forms the clasp, topped with the glitter of transitional diamonds. The bracelet is in excellent condition. It is exactly 7 1/2 inches long fitting a medium wrist with fluidity and drape.

A ring that stuns, A heavenly blue gem with stars of flickering diamonds surrounding it. The blue gem, 4.35 cts, is a cornflower blue sapphire, a rich, medium blue color has a touch of lavender in the mix. The diamonds are the desirable old miners, weighing 1.33 total weight. Their color is impressive at G-I with S1 clarity. The 18kt shank meets the girdle with acanthus leaves at the shoulders. Enlarge and admire the lovely prongs that hold all stones. Beaming sunlike through wisps of gold filigree is a flame of citrine. Like points in an orbit, pearls surround the stone on all sides. This is a lacy pendant, too sizable to be termed delicate. Edwardian jewels were designed concurrently with the Art Nouveau movement and share some of its qualities. The designs scrolled, curved and curled have a naturalistic quality in which there is a sense of the jewelers' hand.

A delicate gold necklace of beads encrusted with golden strands that interweave and completely cover each bead. Without the help of a loup, the beads appear granulated as were their c.1870 etruscan revival cousins. The necklace, strung on strong gold chain, is a glow of warm gold color and texture. We have seen necklaces such as this one in paintings from the early 1800's from New England. It is just a touch of a jeweled decoration to dress up or down and always right. American. c. 1900. Each golden orb measures 5.9mm. The strand is 14 3/4 in long. Condition is pristine

This four stone diamond ring, both pretty and delicate, makes a beautiful statement for a petite woman who wants something different and not over powering. The ring is Edwardian and dates to c. 1900. The diamonds, well faceted, are sparkling old mine diamonds. Two stones are approximately a half carat each. The smaller stones are approximately .25 each. As the diamonds are deeply set and have not been removed from their prong settings, we may be underestimating their carat weight by .25 ct. One side of the 15k gold band curves up to a smaller diamond while the other side curves down to its diagonal opposite. The stones have no outstanding imperfections with the naked eye or loup. I estimate the color to be H/I. Currently size 7 1/2 and can easily be size
