Stop for a moment and realize that each of the perfectly matched small pearls woven into this necklace was created by an act of nature, a beautifiul irritation that created a a glowing orb of white light. Whereas the classic string of pearls consists of one bead following another in a line, these pearls have been woven into a tight box rope separated by open segments that are cage-like forms. The necklace offers a perfect degree of refinement and feminine appeal to woman of any age. Seed pearl necklaces were classic in the mid 19th century. Today they are scarce and an unusual breath of fresh air. Imagine this as a bride's adornment to be worn forever thereafter at the neck of a simple shirt. The clasp is a Victorian tube clasp with a safety lock. Length is 18 1/2 inches. Condition is excellent

Banded agate is one of nature's miracles. These stones were cut so that the white layer in the agate makes a stripe smack in the middle of each bead. They were then polished to a patent leather gloss, lively, reflective and smooth. When diligently inspected, a faint trace of chocolate brown can be detected under bright light. It lends depth and warmth to the beads. The strand is delicately graduated, the smallest agates measure .33mm and increase in size to 13.0 mm. The length of the strand is 38 inches.

The hallmarks of Georgian jewelry make this coral necklace a joy to wear. Each small bit of coral has been individually hand-carved. The color is a natural orange red. The touch is buttery soft. Miniscule facets are carved in the pineapple beads that divide the length of the sautoir into sections. Look closely, perhaps with a loup, and you will see that the tip of each coral bit has been carved into a rounded point, a detail that manufactured pieces do not include. Our jeweler has expertly restrung the entire necklace to assure its strength and endurance. No change from the original other than the stringing material has been made. The sautoir can be worn as a lariat, tied with a slipknot to be hung in the front of the bodice, worn as a tie on a shirt, or hanging from the back on a low-backed dress. It can be lushly wrapped as a choker as well. Our coral sautoir lends warmth that is contagious. It will quickly become a favorite accessory to an antique or modern jewelry collection. English, c. 1830. Length is 42 1/2 inches.

Call it pearl and gold, or appropriately silk and pearls, for this necklace is silken to the touch. Smoothness is a virtue in a jewel. It suggests comfort for the wearer that only an accomplished metalsmith can create. The French were masters of fine workmanship and great detail. Seventy-two pearls, perfectly matched in shape, color and size nestle between golden orbs and differentiate themselves geometrically as they emanate from small golden cubes. Perfect and perfectly elegant, this is a neckpiece to be worn day, night and always. France, c.1910-20. Length 18 inches, width approximately 1/2 inch.
