A chunky rock crystal, clear and pure, is home to s a witch's heart of natural pearls. At its center sits a dot of turquoise that hypnotically holds the eye. The bale forms a flowing gold bow with its ribbons sitting atop the pendant like a crown. This heart is grand and puffy, one of the most exciting rock crystal hearts I have found. We photograph it on a ribbon. A lovely Victorian gold chain will be a beautiful addition. Ask to see our chain selection. The heart is English in origin c. 1880.

Old mine cut diamonds add a pinch of spice to a lovely pair of Victorian earrings that are timeless.Take note please that the darkened areas shown in the photograph are not at all visible in the earrings but an exaggeration of the camera magnification. The earrings are European in origin, a strikingly interesting texture and in excellent condition. Light on the ear they measure a petite 15/16 ths of an inch in length although they appear grander because of the nice size of the bottom orbs. Definitely a pair to wear constantly.

Gilding adds dramatic interest as does the frame around the multi-banded agate bracelet. The gold does not tarnish and has never needed polish of any kind. Not at all delicate, of sound construction and beautifully made, the bracelet stands on its own for daily wear. It is a good example of antique jewelry appreciated for its design, style, condition and workmanship. Much time and thought was put into design and manufacturing even after the industrial revolution. The English did not judge their jewelry by gold content or gemstones alone. Many, many alternative materials were pricey and a la mode such as pinchbeck, gilded metal, cut steel, paste, gutta percha, vulcanite and bog oak, This bracelet is in excellent condition, comfortable and handsomely dramatic.

Japanese art reflects the natural world which in turn affects our emotional harmony. Here an elongated fan with gold and silver flowers and the creative design of a stream within and passing and winding around the contained landscape. This was either a design element on a sword or designed c. 1870 as a piece of Shakudo jewelry. Three inches in length. Fine Condition. Japanese Shakudo was a mixed metal art form used to decorate swords during the Samurai period in Japan. Once that era ended, the art form became highly collectible as jewelry.

A superb quality example of hand cut steel jewelry c. 1830. The large brooch was made to shine in candlelight. No electric lights were in existence. To attract surrounding light, tiny pieces of steel were faceted like antique diamonds and set into a frame of the jeweler's design with minuscule rivets. The finest examples contain various sizes of steel "stones. This dazzling brooch uses faceted and mirrored steel. The result attained is unique and quite fantastic. Take particular notice of the condition by checking the back of the brooch as well as the front. The condition is excellent

Superb quality earrings designed with the flourish of garlands, have been made of foiled pastes in the manner and fine execution of Georgian and Victorian earrings. From the tiny pastes to the large teardrops, all stones were cut and polished then set like gemstones. No time was spared in the design of the silver which is rounded, pillow like and smooth. The brilliant pastes are the rare pink color that flatters all women. Paste this fine was an art form in earlier eras. The jeweler who made this pair of chandelier ear drops, knew jewelry history and had the desire to create and did create the same quality of hand work and stone setting that challenged jewelers at the beginning of the 19th century. Superb hand work was in line with the turn of the century. Think of the Art Nouveau movement which ran concurrently to the Edwardian aesthetic. It was a movement that valued the hand's on art of the individual over machine made jewelry. Superb Condition.

Brilliant and glistening foiled diamonds were hand cut and polished with each stone individually shaped and set. For this "all by hand" method, no two stones are exactly the same in shape or size. This fact is important in determining the age of antique jewelry and one reason why Georgian jewelry is desired. All diamonds are set in pinched rub-over settings. The center oval gem is freely suspended and gives gentle movement to the earring catching the light. These are delicious earrings in a size that can be worn with a bridal gown or with blue denim, They are ultra feminine and elegant.

Large and proud of it, this turn of the century locket is engraved on both sides and bears a symbolic family crest in the center. Symbols like this are lost in history and become puzzles today. At times we can come close to deciphering the family code. Other times we stumble only to keep at the game. Swirling forms of leaves run into one another and become interwoven above a textured background of gold. These are Acanthus leaves, stately and strong that symbolize long life and endurance. The locket is the size of a large pocket watch and makes a commanding presence when worn low just above or below the breast. Inside is a photograph of a serious young girl. At the turn of the Victorian era, smiles were not easily flashed for the camera as they are today, even on babies. The condition of this locket is excellent. English
