|This rare and very old watch key is made of a Wedgwood plaque with tiny, detailed cameos on the front and back. It makes a charming and meaningful watch fob, pendant or keepsake. Wedgwood jewelry was made to a high standard of quality. The little that remains of it is sought by collectors of pottery and jewelry. In this ornament, the cycle of life is held for us to contemplate. The form is a small circle framed with gold. On one side is a cameo in white on black. We see life bursting forth in the blooming of a plant. A man is encouraging that life by providing the water. The other side shows a soldier carrying a body draped over his shoulder. With one quick turn of the key, the cycle comes to an end. Both miniatures are in the center of a flower with a pale green background. Josiah Wedgwood began his pottery in 1759. His pottery and the cameo decorations on it were made by hand to exacting standards. The father of eight children, he was the grandfather of Charles Darwin. This watch key is pristine. It measures 2 inches in length and is 3/4 in. wide.|
