Extraordinary Color in Enameled Earrings c. 1860-70

Red, white, blue and gold enamel has been ever so delicately applied to these 19th century earrings. This is hand work of the finest quality. Do not be surprised that all this effort was applied to gilded silver or metal. The ear wires have been made of gold. The appreciation of jewelry was not reserved for precious gold or gemstones. Jewelry was appreciated for the workmanship and art involved in the creation. Think about the collectibility of cut steel, paste and esoteric materials. This pair of earrings, in the Napoleonic style, is wafer light. Condition is perfect L. 2" W 1/2 in
