Flora and Stream: Shakudo Elongated Fan Brooch

Japanese art reflects the natural world which in turn affects our emotional harmony. Here an elongated fan with gold and silver flowers and the creative design of a stream within and passing and winding around the contained landscape. This was either a design element on a sword or designed c. 1870 as a piece of Shakudo jewelry. Three inches in length. Fine Condition. Japanese Shakudo was a mixed metal art form used to decorate swords during the Samurai period in Japan. Once that era ended, the art form became highly collectible as jewelry.
