Victorian Silver Cuff Bracelet

In the Victorian era, silver jewelry of grand design and art was made in England, often in the city of Birmingham and Devonshire. Time consuming to fabricate. although manufactured, the jewelry involved many details done by hand. The cuff we exhibit here is a fine example of the period and of the talent of the silver crafters. Rising from the silver background is additional silver folded into a bow. Ivy leaves are engraved above and below the bow knot. The Victorians, sentimental and enthralled by nature, imbued jewelry with symbols. Ivy leaves carry the sentiment of constancy and the entwining of two souls. At the sides of the bow are engravings in the style of Japanese art. A songbird, possibly a wren, performs its song as it stands on a tree, shaded by delicate leaves. The clasp on this bracelet is secure. There is a safety chain. Condition is excellent. Inner measurement is 2 5/8. This bracelet fits a medium wrist.
