|Antique Silver Collar, Locket, Brooch and Earrings in a Boxed Set The silver boxed set pictured above is an example of the Victorian appetite for jewelry which was the more the merrier. be it silver or gold. This original box holds a collar to which the included locket can be attached. Either the locket or collar can be worn alone. Knot the locket on a leather strap or ribbon of chosen length when worn separately. Add the earrings, small enough not to appear overdone when worn with the necklace and locket. Each piece adds to the look of the whole. The brooch and locket have compartments for a photo. There is more silver patterning on this collar than we have discovered on any other. Round links connect in different directions. On them are appliqued cross hatch patterns, a design element amongst myriad others. Additional and central cylindrical links are floral and granulated. Small orbs line the inner circle. Orbs four times the size line the outer edge. The patterns on the locket are just as abundant with silver in the shape of rose cut diamonds, flowers, crowns and chains The clasp adds to the generous labor employed in the whole if the necklace. It is wide, integrated and completes the round in harmony with the designs seen in the entire collar. A grand gesture, from a grand tradition of silversmiths of the high silver period of the last quarter of the 19th century.. Only the box shows its age. There is no sign of age on the jewelry which is as modern in feel as it is antique. Condition is excellent. Hallmarked|
